HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

The Board of Directors of Goldstar Metal Traders Ltd are firmly committed to doing all that is practicable to make proper provision for the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees, contractors, visitors and others who may be affected by its business.  This is in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act etc. 1974.

Through a structured and proportionate control of risk, the Company aims to prevent workplace accidents and work-related ill health which may arise from its work activities.

Goldstar Metal Traders Ltd.’s approach to Health and Safety is to:

  • Comply with all legal and other requirements relevant to company operations.

  • Demonstrate safety leadership at all levels of the organisation, to ensure that the appropriate priority is given to Health and Safety matters.

  • Set effective and consistent standards and targets which will be adopted by everyone to drive continuous improvement and to embed Health and Safety within our culture.

  • Prevent accidents and work-related ill health through suitable and sufficient risk assessments, ensuring the proportionate control of risks which may arise in work activities.

  • Engage and consult with employees and others to provide competent advice and supervision regarding all matters relating to health, safety and wellbeing.

  • Provide information, training and supervision for all employees.

  • Ensure that employees, contractors and visitors to our sites are inducted, appropriately trained and supervised.

  • Provide a safe healthy workplace environment and working conditions and to ensure that plant, machinery and equipment used is inherently safe and properly maintained.

  • Make provision for the receipt, storage, handling and use of all substances that may be hazardous to health.

  • Implement an effective auditing process to monitor and review Health and Safety Standards, Management System, Accident Prevention Strategies, practice and procedures.

  • Put in place emergency procedures to minimise the risk of injury in the event of fire or other serious incidents.

  • Thoroughly investigate all accidents and incidents to ensure that lessons are learned and applied to prevent recurrence.

  • Report regularly on its Health and Safety performance to the directors and board.

  • Review at regular intervals and to revise where necessary this policy.

The Board of Directors, led by the Managing Director, has overall responsibility for ensuring that high standards of health and safety are maintained. However, we rely on all of our employees and sub-contractors to play their part in implementing our health and safety policy and drawing to the company’s attention areas in which improvements can be made.

Senior management will give this policy equal priority with all other business operations and will through their line management be held responsible for its implementation.

Goldstar Metal Traders Ltd firmly believes that an excellent company is by definition a safe company.  With the active support of employees at all levels we can demonstrate that we are committed to safety and it therefore follows that minimising risks to employees, contractors, visitors and others who may be affected by our undertaking is inseparable from all other company objectives.
